Pilates

The Pilates method is a holistic body training, in which

the deep, small, but usually weaker muscle groups are addressed, which are responsible for a correct and healthy posture

The training includes strength exercises, stretching, and conscious breathing. It is also suitable for rehabilitation after accidents. A professional introduction to the method is important to avoid movement and posture errors. However, the risk of injury is generally very low. The essential principles of the Pilates method are control, concentration, conscious breathing, centering, relaxation, flow of movement, and coordination.

The goal is to strengthen muscles, improve fitness and movement coordination, improve posture, stimulate circulation, and increase body awareness. The basis of all exercises is training the so-called "powerhouse," which refers to the muscles located in the middle of the body around the spine, the so-called

Supportive muscles. The pelvic floor muscles and deep core muscles are specifically strengthened. All movements are performed slowly and fluidly, thus protecting the muscles and joints. At the same time, breathing is trained.

Beginners usually start with training without equipment on mats, the foundations of which Pilates first developed. The approximately 500 exercises alternate between stretching and strengthening the muscles.

The course takes place in the Vettelschoß gymnastics hall.
